Privacy Policy

This policy explains what AI TIP collects when you use aitip.ai, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

AI TIP is established in Indiaand this policy is written primarily against India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Where you are covered by another regime — the UK or EU GDPR, for example — we apply the stronger protection rather than the minimum.

What we collect

If you only browse

You can read the tool catalog, the intelligence feed, the methodology and the free University level without an account. We do not ask who you are. We collect aggregate, privacy-preserving analytics — page views, rough performance timings, referring site, approximate country — through Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights. These do not use advertising cookies and are not used to build a profile of you.

If you create an account

• Your name, as you enter it, so the site can address you.
• Your email address, used to sign you in, confirm your account and reset your password.
• A password, which we never see: it is hashed by our authentication provider before storage.
• Your learning record — lessons completed, quiz scores, assignment text you write, activity dates, XP and any certificate you earn — so your progress follows you between devices.
• Your watchlist of tools.

If you use the AI Tutor or the advisor

The question you type is sent to Anthropic to generate an answer, along with the title and objective of the lesson you are on. Do not paste confidential information, credentials or other people's personal data into these boxes. We keep short operational logs of failures so we can fix them.

If you join the founding-member list or subscribe

We store the email address, name and interest you submit. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe: your card details go to Stripe directly and never touch our servers. We receive and store only your subscription status, plan, billing period and Stripe identifiers.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Under the DPDP Act we rely on your consent, given when you create an account, submit a form or ask the Tutor a question. Under GDPR the equivalent bases are: performance of a contract (running your account and your subscription), legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and working, and understanding aggregate usage), consent (marketing email), and legal obligation (keeping tax and payment records).

You can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing it may mean we can no longer provide parts of the service — we cannot sync your progress if you withdraw consent to store it.

What we never do

• We do not sell your personal data. There is no version of this where we do.
• We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not use your assignment answers or Tutor questions to train our own models.
• We do not email you marketing you did not ask for.

Who processes data for us

These are our processors. They act on our instructions and are bound by contract; we remain accountable for what they do with your data.

Some of these operate outside India, so your data may be processed abroad. Where that involves transferring data out of the UK or EEA, we rely on the standard contractual clauses our processors offer.

We will also disclose data where the law genuinely requires it, and to establish or defend a legal claim. If we are ever compelled to hand over your data we will tell you, unless we are legally barred from doing so.

How long we keep it

• Account and learning record — for as long as your account exists. Delete the account and we remove it within 30 days, except where we must retain something by law.
• Founding-member and marketing list — until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
• Payment and tax records — for as long as tax law requires us to keep them, which is longer than we would otherwise choose.
• Operational logs — short-lived, and kept only to diagnose faults and abuse.

Your rights

Whatever country you are in, you can ask us to:

• tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
• correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
• delete your data and close your account;
• stop using it for a particular purpose, or restrict how we use it;
• export it in a portable form;
• withdraw a consent you previously gave.

Email privacy@aitip.ai and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you for this and we will not make you explain why.

If you are unhappy with our answer

Under the DPDP Act you may raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer at grievance@aitip.ai, and if we do not resolve it you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India. Under the UK or EU GDPR you may complain to your national supervisory authority. You do not have to go through us first.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are not visible to us. Access to production data is limited to those who need it. Each account's records are isolated at the database level, so one signed-in user cannot read another's rows. No system is perfect; if a breach affects you we will tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.

Children

You must be at least 18to create an account. India's DPDP Act treats anyone under 18 as a child and requires verifiable parental consent, along with a prohibition on tracking or behavioural advertising aimed at them. We do not currently operate a parental-consent process, so accounts are limited to adults. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Cookies and similar technology

We use browser storage to keep you signed in and to hold your progress on your device so pages load instantly and work offline. Our analytics are cookie-free. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so there is no consent banner to click past.

Changes

If we change this policy materially we will update the date above and, for anything significant, tell account holders by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
